Ruth Asawa, Vogue, 1953

It all begins with an idea.

As I was thinking more about weaving today and what materials and shapes can be created. I was wondering if all of the time and energy I spend on these projects that are never shared are at all meaningful or useful or can I perhaps integrate my private work into my public work. My friends have messaged to see if I would join them in Spain for Weaving by the Sea and I feel, somehow, curious if I am good enough to join or is this meaningful and a useful way to spend my time.

I came across the sculptor Ruth Asawa and found this image in Vogue, 01 September 1953, by Clifford Coffin that includes a sculpture made of wire by Ruth alongside a fashion shot of a coat by Laverne Originals. It has inspired me to continue weaving in various materials to see where things could lead and how I can integrate weaving into my work.
